Doubt vs. Suspect

中文都是「疑心」，suspect 是疑「有」(true)，doubt 是疑「無」(untrue)。所以嫌犯是 suspect；「難說」是 I doubt it，不確定啊。no doubt 自然就是「無疑」no uncertainty, certain 了。

I suspect that he did it. 我覺得他真做了。
I doubt that he did it. 我不相信他做了，我覺得他沒做。

I suspect he's the suspect.
I doubt he's the suspect.

因此英美法系的預設無罪立場，罪名成立必須 proven beyond (reasonable) doubt = proven beyond reasonable uncertainty，證據確鑿，沒有任何合理的「不確定」，沒有任何疑點，無疑。

對於一般人與事，我們也儘量與人為善，往好處去想，假設他們沒說謊，沒做壞事，那壞事不是他們幹的。除非見到確切證據，暫且存疑，不做定論，此之謂 give them the benefit of the doubt 也。讓他們因疑得利。
