Come the Rain, Gone the Wind

問者的問題,主要在 "come nightfall" 或 "come Sunday","come morning"這類句型,雖然意思懂了,就是 when whatever comes"之意,但背後文法結構或理由是什麼?

Come Sunday --> Sunday come
2. 再把省略的字添回去:(when) Sunday (is) come
4. 更進一步,在此 is = has
 因此:when Sunday has come, i.e. when Sunday comes

When Sunday has/is gone
--> Sunday gone
--> Gone Sunday

而Go 的動詞三態各有不同,被動語態表現至今普遍使用,比方 he was gone、with him gone、what's wrong with girls gone wild (CBS headline)。最有名的,就是 Gone with the Wind 了!

    查閱數本字典發現,come 現今已被文法學家視為介系詞,表示 "when a specific time is reached",多用於非正式場合。 I don't think that they'll be far away from honor come the new season.

Wei

It's a dream come true的情況

Returned home, in love with a neighbor’s daughter, he dares not cofess his love.

    The summer days are gone.

    If it were so the story would have a conventionally happy ending, with the meeting of hero and heroine as a dream come true.
